We assess how a person’s home environment supports or limits their independence and safety.
Our housing and environmental assessments provide practical, evidence-based recommendations – from simple equipment and layout changes to full property adaptations.
What we assess
- Access to and from the property (paths, steps, thresholds, parking)
- Internal circulation (doorways, corridors, turning spaces for mobility aids)
- Stairs and levels within the home
- Bathroom and toileting facilities
- Kitchen layout and usability
- Bedroom access, transfers and positioning
- Space for carers, equipment and future needs
Types of recommendations
We may recommend:
- Simple aids such as grab rails, half-steps and bath boards
- Minor adaptations such as stair rails, ramps and threshold changes
- Bathroom adaptations including level-access showers, wet rooms and specialist toilets
- Kitchen adaptations, worktop alterations and storage solutions
- Re-organisation or re-provision of rooms to improve access and safety
- Major adaptations such as extensions, through-floor lifts or reconfiguration of internal layouts

Our reports provide measurements, clinical reasoning and clear specifications to support Disabled Facilities Grant applications and internal approvals.
