Our Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist
About
With more than twenty years of experience working across the NHS, local government and the independent sector, our Clinical Consultant brings a practical, well-rounded understanding of occupational therapy and how services truly operate.
Their background combines hands-on clinical work with service leadership, giving them both the detailed insights and a broader perspective needed to help people live safely, confidently and as independently as possible.
Leadership Rooted in Real-World Practice
Throughout their career, they have led and modernised the occupational therapy services across multiple London boroughs and home counties. Working across these varied communities has given them a clear sense of the pressures local authorities face, the realities of frontline practice and the opportunities to design services that genuinely work for the people who use them.
Their leadership work has focused on making services easier to access and more effective. This included reviewing and improving referral pathways, strengthening quality assurance and guiding teams through periods of significant change.
They have consistently placed a strong emphasis on helping staff feel supported and confident in their practice, ensuring that interventions remain safe, evidence-based and aligned with the Care Act.
Service Improvement and Quality Assurance
Service transformation has been a consistent theme in their career. They have introduced community OT clinics, reshaped reablement pathways and developed approaches to housing adaptations and equipment provision that reduce delays and improve outcomes for residents.
They have established audit and governance systems that have given services clarity, accountability and a way to demonstrate impact in the community. By focusing on meaningful outcome measures and gathering honest client feedback, they have helped local authorities reduce waiting lists, avoid unnecessary hospital admissions and provide support that is both cost-effective and tailored to the individual’s needs.
A Person-Centred, Strengths-Based Approach
Their practice is firmly rooted in the principles of the Care Act. Whether carrying out an assessment or redesigning a service, they focus on what people can do, the support networks around them and what matters most to them. They believe occupational therapy should never be a “tick-box” process and it should enable individuals to live the life they want, with dignity and choice at every stage.
They have extensive experience in housing and adaptations, equipment and seating solutions and manual handling practice. They regularly collaborate with specialist suppliers to create solutions for individuals with complex needs, ensuring that the end result is safe, practical and personally meaningful.
Partnership Working Across Health and Social Care
Collaboration has been central to their work. They have built positive working relationships with social workers, therapists, commissioners and clinical teams, recognising that the best outcomes come from coordinated planning and shared goals.
Their involvement in multi-agency forums and transformation programmes has helped strengthen the links between local authority services, community therapy teams and NHS providers.
